No matter what you’ve seen in the movies, Mine Canary can tell you from recent experience that coming back from the dead isn’t as easy as pushing play on a tape recorder, lighting a candle, or fumbling your way through a few magic words. As we all know when the dead rise they’re not usually in the same condition they were before their time spent taking a dirt nap. They’re usually decayed, falling apart, and have trouble staying quick on their feet. And as it turns out conducting the séance is a great responsibility. A lot can change in even the shortest of time between a passing and a resurrection and staying true to a previous life can be quite a challenge. Coming back from the dead just isn’t that easy.

When Mine Canary thrust a hand upwards through the worm filled earth and clawed its way out of a seemingly shallow grave the immediate response was: “To Hell with this. I’m going back to sleep”. Weeks later the urge to give up was still there. Hours upon hours of hearing the same beats and the same songs got old quickly and being dissatisfied with nine out of ten recordings really wore Mine Canary down. It became apparent that we were never going to exhume the exact style and sound we had before we expired. So we kind of gave up on that. Maybe it’s not worth coming back to life if you’re not doing anything different than you did the first time. And that’s when it became fun again. The album is different but it bears a striking resemblance to the vision of sound and performance art that was first brought to you in 2009 by a couple from Sarasota who had a drum machine, an orange jumpsuit, and a few toys. We present to you, “And Now You’re Mine: The Mine Canary Halloween album.”
